My name is Cara and I am the owner of this hidden gem of a b&b (also our home), along with my husband Nathan. We were in in our mid 30's when we purchased it as an existing bed-and-breakfast back in 2015. Both of us had grown up in the country (Nathan in Canada, and I was raised in the nearby Texas hill country), and were both trained by our parents to run a business, so this particular B&B felt to be the perfect venture. It became our beautiful slice of heaven. At first we were shocked to discover it had already existed for 15 years as a b&b by the time we purchased it. We weren't alone! We came to find that most of the locals didn't know much about it either.
Our learning curve has been steep, but this B&B's beauty and serene nature has made it all worth while to be able to live here. Hosting weddings and retreats and parties has been a lot of fun, and we've enjoyed meeting a lot of interesting people coming and going. So many times I've wanted to put a blurb out there about this or that interesting thing or idea as we learned how to make it all happen in the hospitality world. It's been quite a ride trying to get the word out in an ever changing technological world. Marketing is a beast.
After owning it for over 9 years, there's a lot to share. I'll not cram it all into one post. You can expect bits of news and happenings from this interesting life living at a bed & breakfast.
I'll be posting our b&b guest's favorite breakfast recipe soon, and also about the "WORLD Soaring Competition" coming to Uvalde in a few days for the very last time. What an awesome thing it is to have gliders come from all over the world for this high flying sport!
